I’m a sucker for dream-come-true stories, how about you? I love it when the fairy-tale becomes reality and a person crosses over into that world of, “I can’t believe this is happening to me.” We recently watched this occur as 17-year-old Jordin Sparks became the American Idol. From the age of eleven this was her dream. Doesn’t it warm your heart when dreams come true? I think this is why so many of us enjoy watching award shows and beauty pageants. For the most part, the “winners” on these shows have been working for years to achieve this heart-desire dream.

What’s your dream? Do you believe that dreams can come true? Would you like to take an active part in making a fairy-tale dream come true?

I’ve always said that when I grow up I want to be a screenwriter. I’ve practiced my Academy Award acceptance speech for Best Screenplay since I was a kid. I’m now 52. About ten years ago I heard a well-known actress being interviewed and something she said prompted me to decide then and there to develop a script just for her, and so I began writing Just a Housewife. Except the lead character is anything but “just a housewife,” and her glamorous adventure leads her to realize the ultimate dream of her heart—to sing professionally, record an album, and go to the GRAMMY Awards.

After the 2006 release of my debut novel, A Stitch in Time, my publisher asked me if I had any ideas for a second novel and I immediately thought of Just a Housewife and pitched them the idea. They loved it and after a major rewrite the unfinished Just a Housewife screenplay became the finished One Little Secret novel.

One Little Secret released on August 1, 2007. The early buzz has it that the characters of Ursula and Nik will make fabulous film roles, especially for the 50+ starring role of “boomer babe” Ursula Rhoades. I’m excited to hear that, because in my heart this book is meant to be a fun-filled fantasy chick-flick! The dazzling world of mega-singing star Nik Prevel and his illustrious parents Cristoff and Isabella Prevelakis is the stuff chick-flicks are made of. And watching Ursula transform from being a stay-at-home mom to an empty nester who partners with America’s hottest singing heart throb to record an album of classic standard love songs is the stuff romantic comedies are made of. This book had its beginning as a screenplay and it’s my heart desire to see it on film.

Okay, so what does this have to do with a Hollywood Casting Call Contest?

I’d like you to read One Little Secret and pick the Dream Team Cast you think would best portray these larger than life characters who hail from Beverly Hills, Malibu, and Hollywood. We’ve identified actresses and actors in all of the main roles and we’ve included a blank space for you to make your own suggestion. “Well, that’s just swell, Allison, but what’s the point, how do you plan to identify a winner, and what’s the prize?”

The point is to have fun. The point is to see if this contest can circulate to enough people and create enough buzz that it gets the attention of one or more of our proposed Dream Team Cast—or maybe even a film Director. Perhaps a Producer will get wind of this crazy contest and check out One Little Secret.

Additionally, if a major media outlet picks up on this contest we’ll have a good shot at reaching some of the actors and actresses listed on our ballot below. Wouldn’t that be cool? Stranger things have happened, haven’t they?

Okay, I’ll bet you want to know what the Grand Prize is, am I right?
