What's a Teleseminar?

A teleseminar is a conference call for sharing information by phone.

You don't need fancy equipment for a teleseminar. All you need is a telephone. (And it's possible you don't even need that.)

Let me explain the "why" of a teleseminar before I explain the "how."

The whole reason for doing a teleseminar is to make it easy for public speakers to speak to large numbers of people at the same time by phone, INSTEAD of having to travel. That cuts the costs WAY down, because then the only costs are the long-distance fees you pay to the phone company. And it saves huge amounts of time, because NOBODY has to travel.

That's the "why." Now I'll talk about the "how."

A teleseminar is nothing but a huge conference call on the telephone. It's a live event, with a host and a guest speaker. You don't have to know how it works. The phone company takes care of all the pesky details. All you have to know is how to dial a phone.

When you register for a teleseminar on my web site, you immediately get back an email with three pieces of information:

  • The time and date to call.
  • The long-distance phone number to dial.
  • An "access code" that lets you into the conference.

At the appointed time for the teleseminar, you dial the phone number. Then you'll hear a message asking you for the access code. You punch in the numbers for the access code and ... you're in! The host takes care of everything else. All you have to do is listen. Usually, the host will "mute" your phone so if your dog barks, the other zillion people on the call won't hear it.

Usually, the phone number for the teleseminar is a long-distance call for you, so you do have to pay the toll charge for that. But that's almost always FAR CHEAPER than the cost to travel to hear a speaker. Not to mention that your time is valuable, and time spent traveling is time taken from your life. With a teleseminar, you don't spend one second traveling. You just kick back at home and listen.

In fact, you can even avoid the cost of the phone call, if you're willing to wait a couple of days. I record my teleseminars using a professional recording service (www.RecordedMoments.com). Within 48 hours, they give me the recording of the teleseminar as a compressed MP3 file and I load that to a secret location on my web site. Then I tell you the secret link so you can listen on your computer. Or you can put the MP3 file on your iPod and play it while you're exercising.

So if you forget to dial in for one of my teleseminars, or if an emergency comes up, or if you just don't want to pay the long-distance bill, you can STILL HEAR THE RECORDING. And I also put ALL THE HANDOUTS for each teleseminar on the same page as the audio recording. (I usually do three handouts for each teleseminar.)

That's important for those of you outside the US, because calling international long-distance for an hour could add up to a lot of money. But if you register for the teleseminar, you can just grab the MP3 file off my web site and all you pay is your normal internet access charge, which is WAY cheaper. The MP3 file will be about 10 MB, which downloads in seconds on a cable modem or fast DSL.
