Dotsie Bregel
Following Mom’s death and facing the empty nest caused me to hunker down in prayer seeking guidance and direction for the next season in life. I struggled with this question: What do I want to be when I grow up? Yes, I was a 43-year-old baby boomer and was still searching! I’d loved being a mom who stayed home to make a difference, but shortly they’d all be in college and I’d be out of a job. Since I enjoyed my friendships with women and liked us to feel connected and encouraged, I chose to launch a Web site that would do just that. A site that allowed us to share our stories and give everyone a peek into our hearts and lives would help enlighten ourselves and others about our generation of women. It would give us a voice!
I’m now the founder of the # 1 site for baby boomer women, www.boomerwomenspeak.com, and the National Association of Baby Boomer Women, www.nabbw.com. I’m a Christian, professional homemaker happily married to the love of my life for 27 years. Managing both sites and the association, staying in touch with my children and making time for my husband fills my days.
When the children were younger I spent my time on ball fields or in gyms, at swim meets or skate parks, and volunteering. Life has changed. The kids have grown. I’ve always enjoyed walking, gardening, cooking, reading, writing, and getting together with family and friends so I now have more time to do those things. I also write, speak, and am considered an expert on all issues concerning my generation of women. I’m fortunate because I turned my midlife crisis into my midlife passion.
I believe strongly that love and connections heal people. My desire for others to feel enlightened, educated, and empowered inspired me to launch both sites. See what a little self reflection and prayer can do at midlife? My prayer is for my generation of women to live our passions.
Since launching Boomer Women Speak, the # 1 site on all search engines for “baby boomer women,” several years ago, Dotsie Bregel has been connecting, encouraging, and supporting boomer women on a daily basis. With her finger on the pulse of this spirited generation, Dotsie has learned that boomer women desire to feel empowered and enriched. She has dedicated her career to creating opportunities that inspire women to explore their passions and live them to the fullest. She has since launched the National Association of Baby Boomer Women, www.NABBW.com the only association devoted to addressing issues concerning 38 million of the healthiest, wealthiest, and best educated generation of women to ever hit midlife. Her prayer is to embrace all women and provide them with the means to soar.
By the grace of God, I have been mentioned in Time magazine and AARP Bulletin among dozens of newspapers across the nation. I frequently do radio interviews and have been interviewed for many publications. I was also invited to appear in the outside audience of The Early Show (CBS) with Dave Price. I have helped connect women for a segment of the NBC Nightly News. I am on the Editorial Board for me* magazine and write Book Reviews for boomer magazine. I can be reached at 1-877-bboomer and dots@boomerwomenspeak.com. I’d love to hear from you!
